About the benefits

What is Lebconnection?

Lebconnection is a free interactive space that allows members of the Lebanese community and friends to stay connected, find expertise and seek information when making important decisions.

It's a tool that maps the relationships between the members. For instance, when I do a search for somebody Lebanese working in a specific company or industry, I can immediately see that a person I know (in my immediate contacts) knows for example the Director of the banking practice at a consulting firm, who knows the Director of Business Development at HSBC that I want to reach.

The ability to see beyond our first level of contacts is a powerful way for members to build relationships and get in contact with the right people when making important decisions concerning finding a job, a housing opportunity or developing your personal project.

Can Lebconnection help me find a job?

More than 60 percent of jobs are found through personal introductions. Once you join Lebconnection, you can access the job ads posted by other members of the community. You'll also have access to the right people in the companies you want to work for.

Looking for all Lebanese people working at HSBC in London? Just use the Search function in the JOB Section by company or industry to find the right people to contact in the network.

You can also stay on the lookout by creating customised alerts on your specific job criteria: Lebconnection will then automatically notify you of job opportunities posted by fellow Lebanese that correspond to your criteria.

Can Lebconnection help me find a deal?

More than 40 percent of decision-makers will take an introduction from someone they know. Using your Lebconnection network, you can reach the people you need to make deals. Potential clients can find you and you can target specific prospects using the powerful search tool. The ability to call on common friends and acquaintances helps you access the right people and get the right introductions.

Can Lebconnection help me find a resource?

The best way to find a high-quality talent is through a personal referral. If you are in need of filling a position at your company, the typical process is time-consuming, inefficient and can produce mixed results. You can quickly search the Lebconnection network for profiles that match the experience and skills you need. Once you find the right match, checking references and pre-screening is a snap. Lebconnection will change the way you find and hire talent.

Privacy and trust

How do I know my information is safe?

Lebconnection has several levels of privacy and security safeguards.

At a technical level we offer SSL (secure socket layer) encryption provided by Verisign for data protection between Lebconnection and your computer.

From an application level, every member has a private, confidential and secure database. Lebconnection also offers multiple features within the application to restrict (and grant) access, make yourself confidential and tailor your Lebconnection environment to meet your specific confidentiality and security preferences.

What does Lebconnection do with my Profile information and Contacts?

Lebconnection maintains all your Profile information and Contacts absolutely confidential. Lebconnection will never use your information without your permission or knowledge. This information belongs to you. You own it. We use it to deliver the services you request from Lebconnection. Lebconnection will never sell, share or give away any of your personally identifiable information or contacts. Please read our Privacy Policy for more details.

How do I control who can see what and who can contact me?

Lebconnection is set by default to allow any member of the community to contact you via Leb-mail. You can however choose to filter the people who can contact you by changing the corresponding settings in My account -> My preferences. You can for example limit that capability only to the people you already know in your contacts list.

Within your personal preference page, you can also designate which of your contacts can see your other contacts.

Does Lebconnection actively monitor the community and network for privacy violations?

The Lebconnection operational staff is always monitoring the site for external and internal security violations and intrusions. However, Lebconnection is not monitoring transactions between and among members for privacy or confidentiality.

Lebconnection is relying on members to ensure the people within their networks are not misrepresenting relationships or contacts that they have. The Lebconnection terms of use specifically articulates acceptable (and unacceptable) behavior and use of the service and provides you with a 'Inappropriate content' functionality to help us identify those eventual unacceptable behaviours.

Your network

What is My Network and how is it structured?

Your network is comprised of the contacts you invite into Lebconnection. Ideally, your network will be made up of people you trust as sources for answers, contacts, introductions and information.

Lebconnection chose to simplify the concept of the 'n-degrees of relationship' and to adapt it to the networking culture of the Lebanese community. Lebconnection manages three degrees of relationship and five 'circles of influence':

First degree of influence, where you are most likely to get a fast answer

  • Family : these are your contacts with whom you have direct or indirect family ties (cousins, uncles, brothers, sisters etc...)
  • Direct contacts : these are your direct contacts that can be professional or personal with whom you have no family ties

Second degree of influence

  • Contacts of family : these are the contacts of your family contacts (second degree contacts)
  • Contacts : these are the contacts of your contacts (second degree contacts)

Third degree of influence

  • Lebconnection members : these are all the other the members of the Lebconnection community that do not fall in any of the categories above

How do I delete someone from my network?

It is easy to delete an entry. Under Members > Manage My network, click on the delete function on the right side the person's name.

Who should I invite to the network?

  • Add people you trust.
  • Add people you would like to help.
  • Add the people you know who could help you.
  • Add your immediate business associates (if they fit the above items).
  • Add people who would take your call or meet with you if you requested.

Add people with whom you have a relationship but want a stronger tie.

How do I improve my search results?

Be as specific as you can. For example if you know the name, company, title then put them all in. Spell out the complete name and use whole words if you can.

If you do not get a result where you expect to get one, try a variation on the name. For example, if you searched on GE, try General Electric.
